Art Residency Oedong is the first residency project organised by Grace Lim (임현숙), Director of Gallery Art Flora. The program runs for five months starting from May to September 2015. Five Korean artists were invited including Park Dahye, Seok Chang Seong, Son Min Kwang, Shin Young Jae and Lee Wonju.
In August I was invited to join the residency program for a month followed by one Bruneian artist Wilson MC Lau and a group of French artist (Kim Na Young, Eleonore Pano-Zavaroni, Fabien Renneteau, Feriel Boushaki) with their project called "Drive-In"; a moving truck that acts as their art studio, research room, seminar room and exhibition hall.
The residency program includes art crits program by a famous Korean art critic, Hong Kyeong Han (홍경한), Korea - Brunei ART LINK Project Art Exhibition, Replay Art Exhibition and Open Studio as the last program to end the residency.
It was such a great experience for my first residency program where i spent a month exploring / experimenting my work using Korean ink as my main media with a "feeling" as a subject for my portrait series artwork. I am currently undergoing a project for my second solo art exhibition as a sequence of my current art subject where i am intending to develop more portrait series of "feeling" that i have started during the residency program in Gimhae, South Korea. Stay tuned!
